open house wien The building is an example of how a commercial and industrial building can be combined with apartments to form a single entity. The five-storey building is impressive thanks to its typical industrial façade, the large window cases, and the distinctive gateways. The brickwork is partly plastered and revetted with facing bricks between the windows. This gives it a fortress-like feel that is offset by the windows that consist of five to seven rows of metal frame with wired glass. Even today, the façade mostly matches the architect’s submitted design.
On top, lowered behind a wrap-around terrace, is another floor. The industrial building spans three tracts, while the fourth, the residential portion, houses 40 apartments. Three tracts of the building were made for 150 differently sized working rooms.
