open house wien Until the mid-1990s, the University of Veterinary Medicine was located on the campus of what is now the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna. Within a span of about ten years, the existing old buildings, among them the main building dating back to 1823, were renovated and remodeled. Additional built-ins were removed and the attics converted to classrooms. Acoustically optimised wooden elements now meet the requirements of teaching. More than 5‘000 square metres in total were created. All the new buildings are lower than the old main building including the top floor. This makes the campus feel like a closed entity. Similar to the distinctive solitary cube that now houses the Filmacademy Vienna. The campus presents itself today as both traditional and innovative.
