open house wien The interior is reminiscent of a church: 50 metres long, 21.5 metres wide, three-aisled. The brick hall once housed the gear wheel factory Luzzatto. For a long time, the building remained unused. Today, the hall is under monumental protection and serves as a production facility, storage, and open office space. It is also booked as a location for fashion shows, seminars, conferences, art openings, and product presentations.
In 2003, the building was modernised. The entire concept respects old elements and adds new ones appropriately – for instance a revolving gallery and the glass roof that spans the entire surface. The old heavy-duty crane, the delicate steel pillars supporting the roof, as well as the side windows and outer walls were preserved. Even wear marks and the colouration of many building elements were kept as far as possible.
