Nevertheless, the buildings weren’t just replaced, but also additions made. For instance, the three-storey atrium houses that were erected instead of the former economic wing clearly emancipate themselves from their predecessors’ use of forms. The challenge lay in providing the north-facing apartments with enough light. This was made possible with an ingenious system of directed lighting and an orientation towards the interior elevated atriums. An art sculpture from the 1970s was put back in its original place, and its red colour and delicate characteristics preserved as the central design components.
