open house wien The 36 atrium houses each directly connect to the neighbouring house, which creates the impression of a large building complex. And yet they offer the residents open spaces shielded from view and lots of light: Two houses each share a square atrium, which is visually and acoustically divided by a sound-insulating milk glass pane, giving every house its own “courtyard”. The living areas are located on two floors in an U-shape around the atrium. Next to this predominant orientation towards the inside, the residents can enjoy views into the distance on the rooftop terrace. Many have used the space to create rooftop gardens. Across from the closed-off row of houses is a smaller block with six atrium apartments. Facing the residential street in between are only two low windows and a small “greeting balcony”: this allows residents to welcome approaching guests.
