Starting point: a substandard Gründerzeit house in suburban Ottakring. Task: comprehensive rehabilitation according to the guidelines of Wohnfonds Wien, addition of one full storey and two roof storeys. Strategy: strict separation of existing stock and addition; rehabilitation of historic stock and creation of new architecture atop; emphasising the new superstructure and thus generating a novel architectural character.
