This office building for Raiffeisen International dynamically mirrors the serpentine curve of the street running along the edge of Stadtpark. More than 100 offices are accommodated in the elegant glass structure, whose sweeping façade is further accented by LED strip lighting.

The interplay of receding and projecting elements structures the mass of this roughly 100-metre glass tower situated along the north-western edge of the Donau City site. A wide, cantilevered canopy roof above the large, elegant sky lobby with terrace marks the outstanding silhouette of this splendidly appointed building.

The overall rehabilitation of the former Albertina Graphics Collection into a comprehensive new art museum and the addition of a study hall provoked numerous discussions – chiefly because of the Soravia Wing by Hans Hollein, whose acute angles float above the ramp of the Albertina.

The first Danube Canal "tower" signals a new gateway to the 2nd municipal district. Adapting to the existing building stock and providing for potential new high-rises, the quasi-sculptural edifice is composed of several elements: a stone block, a metal/glass block and an oblique, rampant glass prism topped by an LED screen.

After the covering of the Danube riverside motorway, this site, which originally had been singled out for the aborted Vienna-Budapest World’s Fair of 1995, was envisioned by the development company WED to become a new urban expansion area. Since 1998, intense construction activities include housing estates and office towers in this satellite centre efficiently linked to Vienna’s city by the U1 Underground line.

At the time of construction, the new Haas House, too, offered food for heated discussions – before becoming one of the most-photographed buildings of Vienna, much coveted for tourism and advertising purposes. The body of this fully glazed commercial building takes up the old separation of St. Stephen’s Square and Stock-im-Eisen-Platz; one remarkable feature are the manifold “faces” of the structure, which change with the different viewing angles from the surrounding side streets.

The central, symmetrical entrance dominated by the striking, elliptical recess above and the two showcase niches are cut into the aluminium façade in almost sculptural style. Inside, too, the wall shelving clings smoothly to the two-part (square and octagonal) layout. An icon of its period, the design has retained its modernity even after 40 years.
