With this project composed of 250 flats in multipart blocks with projecting, spacious verandas, terraces and bays, the architect has created an alternative to closed linear blocks. Light incidence, visual links and optimised functionality are the formal key parameters of a housing project that offers high open space quality despite substantial condensation.

The housing estate behind the new SOS FamilenRAThaus – a family counselling centre – encircles a large, greened interior courtyard with friendly children’s playgrounds. Glazed bridges and corridors connect the varied, yet harmoniously balanced sections by the Cufer-Glück-Lainer teams and lead to a common rooftop swimming-pool. The sections designed by s&s and Kaufmann feature novel low-energy technology.
